Best 9 Sites Like Weebly for Starting Your Website

Sites like Wix header

Weebly.com is a free-to-start website creating site that has quite a few things going for it. Its powerful and easy-to-swap themes system and drag-and-drop elements make it easy to build a website without any coding experience.  However, Weebly’s features are limited unless you buy a premium subscription (though this is still very reasonable). The platform’s interface is also less free-form than some of its rivals, and may seem somewhat clunky until you get used to how it works.

Here are nine other websites like Weebly to try if it can’t get your website idea off the ground.

1. Wix

Wix is probably the most popular Weebly alternative.  The two major things that Wix has going for it are its free-form design scheme, as well as the fact that it gives you greater choice when it comes to what you want out of your premium subscriptions (but they’re still pretty comparable to Weebly).  However, switching templates or deleting your account is a hassle.

2. Jimdo

Hailing from Germany, this Weebly competitor actually allows you to run a store on the website that you create, right out of the gate!  The catch, however, is that you can only list 5 products in your store unless you buy one of Jimdo’s premium subscriptions.  Jimdo also features comparable drag-and-drop website creation functions to Weebly.

3. Strikingly

If you’re looking for utmost simplicity in your alternatives to Weebly, then look no further than Strikingly. This China-based website builder can connect to your Facebook or LinkedIn account and build you a professional-looking one-page website almost instantly!  From there, you can buy a premium subscription and build out your website. Strikingly is great for those who have little experience with desktop publishing software.

As its name implies, this Canadian alternative to Weebly helps you create a website geared towards launching a small business. You can make the website yourself with easy and intuitive tools, or you can hire one of Shopify’s professionals to help you make your site exactly the way you want it. Shopify has no options for using it for free, but it does have a two-week trial option.

WebsiteBuilder is a site similar to the platforms on this list, and has many of the same great features, including easy drag-and-drop technology. With over 10, 000 templates to choose from, WebsiteBuilder is a leader in being user-friendly, and helping those with little experience build their websites. WebsiteBuilder also has more competitive price plans than Weebly, while still offering the same great benefits and features. You can even set up our own eCommerce online storefront!

6. GoDaddy

Probably best known for its outlandish advertisements, GoDaddy rounds out our list of sites similar to Weebly.  It features a website builder with unlimited page capabilities and at least 1 gigabyte of storage space, much like Weebly.  However, you have to pay just to use it, and you have to also buy upgraded plans to get features like a mobile-friendly website or integrated shopping capabilities on your website.

7. Squarespace

Squarespace features simple controls for creating stunning websites for blogging, music, business, or anything else that you can think of.  Similar to Shopify and other websites on this list, you can edit the code of your website directly on Squarespace, as well as add intuitive shopping functions. One of the more advanced sites on this list, Squarespace requires you to buy its services as a package, instead of just what you need.

8. Virb

Though Virb is a paid-for service only, its features are comparable to some of the paid subscription features on Weebly. Not only do you get intuitive tools for building your website, but you also get help with having it found by search engines, as well as layouts that look good on both desktop and mobile websites. Virb also helps you easily customize your content based on what kind of website you want.

9. WordPress

Though it’s meant more as a blog-building website than one for building entire other websites, WordPress is often mentioned among Weebly competitors because of its professional look and ease of use.  It’s also quite good at getting web pages noticed by search engines. This has led some people to use WordPress to build websites, or at least website prototypes that set the groundwork for a full website made using a platform meant for creating full websites (like what we did at TechBoomers).
