How to Cancel Angi for a Refund or Delete Your Account

How to Cancel an Angie's List Account header

If you feel like taking yourself off Angi you’re probably going to want to get rid of your account first. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done, but you do have a couple of options. Your best option is to cancel your paid membership. You’ll lose access to a few functions, but you’ll still be able to use the website.

PRO TIP

As of June 2016, Angi started allowing users to operate on the website with free Green Membership accounts!

You can also try getting customer service to completely erase your account. Or, if you’re a business on Angi, you can try contacting them to remove your company from their database. It might require some patience and perseverance, but it could work. Whatever you decide, we can show you how to do it.

What this article will cover:

Let’s jump in with the most pressing question: how and when can you get a refund from Angie’s List if you already paid?

How to get an Angi refund (and when you can)

To get a refund on Angi, you need to cancel your membership within 30 days of the renewal date – whether it was automatic or not. To get the refund, contact Angi customer service and ask for a refund. You can only receive a refund for the renewal, not your initial subscription.

PRO TIP

To avoid having to go through that, you may want to turn the auto-renew function off for your membership. While you may temporarily lose access to the paid features of Angie’s List until you manually re-subscribe, at least you won’t be charged for those functions if you don’t end up using them for a while.

If you don’t have a paid subscription that you need to halt auto-renewal for – or just flat-out end – you can skip to instructions for attempting to delete your account here.

How to cancel your Angi paid membership (or auto-renewal for it)

1. Go to Angi.com and log into your account.

2. Go to your Profile menu and manage your account settings.

Move your mouse cursor over the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the member area page to make a drop-down menu appear. Then click Manage My Account.

3. Ask to chat with a customer service agent about making changes to your membership.

Scroll down to the section marked “Manage My Membership” to see your current membership’s type, length, renewal date, renewal type (i.e. automatic or manual), and price. To get in touch with someone who can change your membership, click Chat about My Membership.

Talk to Angie's List customer service about changing your membership

4. Tell the customer service agent that you want to cancel (or disable auto-renewal for) your membership.

Now, simply use the text chat interface that pops up to tell the customer service agent on the other end that you want your subscription canceled, or at least the auto-renewal function for it turned off.

PRO TIP

Plan ahead when canceling your membership! If you do it any later than 5:00 PM (E.S.T.) on the day before your subscription is scheduled to renew, your membership will renew anyway and won’t cancel until the next time it’s set to expire. You’ll be stuck paying for another year of Angi that you might not even use!

But what if your paid subscription has been put to bed, or you never had one in the first place? What if you want to go further than that and get off Angie’s List completely? Well, that’s not exactly a straightforward thing to do, but we’ll give you our best suggestions next.

3 ways to contact Angi customer service to remove your listing

There’s no quick and easy process for deleting your Angi account, whether you’re a single user looking for hired help or a business advertising your services. However, there are a few things you can try:

  1. Send an account closure request through the Angi contact form
  2. Send Angi a direct email
  3. Calling the customer service team for Angi directly

We’ll cover the latter two methods a little later. For now, here’s the easiest way to cancel your account.

How to send Angi a message to delete your account

1. Visit Angi.com and sign into your account.

4. Fill out the contact form, submit your message, and wait for a customer service representative to respond.

You will now have to fill out the contact form for Angi. Your first name, last name, and email address should automatically be filled in, as per the information on your account.

So, click the drop-down menu labeled “What Kind of Question Do You Have?” and select an option (we would suggest Membership Cancellation, Account Inquiries, or Other Questions or Concerns). Then, click in the box labeled “What Is the Subject?” and type in the specific nature of your question (ideally, something like ‘I want to delete my account’ or ‘I want to remove my business from Angie’s List’).

Then, click in the box labeled “What Is Your Question?” and write out the details of your request. When you’re finished, click Send Message. A customer service agent should respond to your request within 24 hours.
