Sometimes, you’ll need to enable cookies in Chrome in order for certain websites to function the way they’re supposed to. Other times, you might want to disable cookies in Chrome if you don’t want certain websites to track your Internet activity. We’ll show you how to do both in this lesson.

How to turn browser cookies in Chrome on (or off)

Open your Chrome web browser by double-clicking its icon.

Click the menu icon in the top-right corner, and click Settings.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Show Advanced Settings.

Under the “Privacy” heading, click Content Settings.

Under the “Cookies” heading, you will have three options.
— “Allow Local Data to be Set” is what you want to choose in order to enable cookies in Chrome.
— Choosing “Keep Local Data Only until You Quit Your Browser” enables cookies, but deletes all of them whenever you exit Chrome.
— Choosing “Block Sites from Setting Any Data” will disable cookies in Chrome altogether.
In addition, you can click to mark the check box beside “Block Third-Party Cookies and Site Data” if you only want to block tracking cookies, and not other types of cookies that are necessary in order for websites to work properly.
You can also click Manage Exceptions to view and edit a list of websites that you want to set as exceptions to the rules that you set for cookies. For each website, you have the same options as above: Allow all cookies, Clear [Cookies] on Exit, or Block all cookies.
Finally, you can click All Cookies and Site Data to see a list of all cookies for Chrome that are currently on your computer. Here, you can see more information about each cookie, and also remove cookies either individually or all at once.

When your settings are the way that you want them, click Done in the bottom-right corner of the window.
And that’s about all there is to enabling, disabling, and managing your cookies in Chrome!
