Amazon Prime Shipping Discounts

Amazon Prime Shipping Discounts header (new)

There are three different types of shipping discounts that you can get for products ordered through Amazon if you are subscribed to Amazon Prime.  We’ll go through each of them and explain their rules and conditions.

Types of Amazon Prime shipping discounts

Free two-day shipping discount

With Amazon Prime, you can get shipping speeds of up to two-day delivery without any shipping charges.  This benefit applies to:

  • All items sold by either Amazon or third-party sellers that are marked as eligible for Amazon Prime on their information pages and on your checkout page

  • Many items that are fulfilled by Amazon

  • Nearly all shipping addresses within the continental United States (i.e. not including outlying American territories such as Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico)

Free same-day shipping discount

In some circumstances, you can also get orders from Amazon delivered to you on the same day by 9:00 PM local time (or the next day, if the order is after the noon cut-off) with no shipping charges if you’re signed up for Amazon Prime.  This applies to:

  • Orders with at least $35 worth of eligible products, marked as “Prime Free Same-Day” or “Prime Free One-Day” on their information pages and on your checkout page

  • Orders with at least $35 worth of eligible products that are fulfilled by Amazon

  • Shipping addresses with ZIP codes that correspond to:

    – Seattle/Tacoma, Washington
    – San Francisco, California
    – Los Angeles, California
    – San Diego, California
    – Phoenix, Arizona
    – Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
    – Tampa Bay, Florida
    – Atlanta, Georgia
    – Washington, D.C.
    – Indianapolis, Indiana
    – Baltimore, Maryland
    – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
    – New York City, New York
    – Boston, Massachusetts

Standard shipping discount

If you’re content with standard shipping from Amazon (which usually takes 4 or 5 business days in the continental United States and 3 to 7 business days in outlying American territories), then you can still get your shipping charges waived if you’re subscribed to Amazon Prime.  This applies to:

  • All items fulfilled by Amazon, including those containing hazardous materials, or that are overly large and/or heavy and so have special shipping requirements

  • All designated United States postal addresses, including those in the continental United States, those in outlying American territories (such as Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico), and army or fleet post offices

That’s a breakdown of the shipping benefits that you can get when subscribed to Amazon Prime!
